When purchasing equipment products, many customers will encounter a variety of explosion proof safety certification marks.
ATEX or IECEx and CNEx certified equipment products (e.g. explosion proof cameras ) are essential for use in any potentially explosive or hazardous environment and are an important guarantee of production safety.
We will present the common explosion proof marking.
-
CNEx (China National Explosion-Proof Certification) Geographical Scope CNEx is specific to China and is required for equipment used in explosive atmospheres within Chinese territory. Certifying
BodyCNEx certification, which ensures compliance with Chinese national standards for explosion-proof equipment, is issued by the China National Product Quality Supervision and Testing Centre. Standards CNEx certifications are based on Chinese national standards (GB) related to explosion protection. Marking CNEx certified products are marked with the CNEx logo. -
ATEX (ATmosphères EXplosibles) Geographical Scope ATEX is primarily relevant in the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA). Certifying
BodyATEX certifications are issued by notified bodies within the EU, ensuring compliance with the ATEX directives (Directive 2014/34/EU). Standards ATEX certifications are issued by notified bodies within the EU, ensuring compliance with the ATEX directives (Directive 2014/34/EU). Marking Products compliant with ATEX directives are marked with the Ex symbol and CE marking. -
IECEx Geographical Scope IECEx is an international certification system recognized in many countries worldwide. Certifying
BodyThe International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) manages the IECEx System, which issues certifications for electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres. Standards IECEx certifications are based on international IEC standards, ensuring consistency and compatibility across different countries. Marking Products certified under IECEx are marked with the Ex symbol. -
Comparison Geographical Coverage ATEX is limited to the EU/EEA, IECEx is international, and CNEx is specific to China. Certifying
BodiesATEX and CNEx certifications are issued by national authorities or designated bodies, whereas IECEx is managed by the IEC, an international standard-setting organization. Standards ATEX and CNEx certifications follow national or regional standards, while IECEx adheres to international IEC standards. Marking All three certifications use the Ex symbol to denote compliance with explosion protection standards, but the detailed marking requirements may vary.
